On 28 March AEMO published its final incident report into the South Australian state-wide power outage that occurred on Wednesday, 28 September 2016. Of the 19 recommendations outlined in AEMO’s report, three have already been implemented which address more rigorous weather warning monitoring and improvements in System Restart Ancillary Service testing. Work has commenced on a further eight recommendations, with the remaining items due to be completed by December 2017.
AEMO has also engaged independent expert Manitoba HVDC Research Centre to review their modelling for the SA Black System final report. That independent review of the AEMO report is also available on AEMO’s website.
