AEMC approach paper: AEMC advice to COAG Energy Council on strategic priorities for the energy sector
In an approach paper published 19 April, the Commission has outlined how they propose to develop advice on strategic priorities for the COAG Energy Council, due to be published later this year. The advice will be broader in scope than the Commission’s previous reviews, and will include a high level analysis of major challenges, risks and opportunities currently facing the energy sector as well as emerging structural changes that could transform the sector. The scope covers issues arising in all parts of the energy sector across the states and territories. It includes matters relating to electricity, natural gas and energy retailing. The commission is not seeking formal stakeholder submissions on the approach paper. Instead comments can be provided by contacting Commission staff by 12 May 2017.
